What salt air does to Ocean City glass
Shore glass isn’t dirty, it’s coated. That changes how it has to be cleaned and how often.
- Salt film etches if it sits.Salt spray dries into a film that holds moisture against the glass. Left for seasons, it bonds into the surface and leaves a haze that a normal clean won’t move. See shore window cleaning for the full explanation.
- Sand scratches.The real risk on shore glass is grit. Everything gets flooded and rinsed before anything touches it, which is why we never dry-wipe shore windows.
- Beach block versus bay side.Ocean-facing glass on the beach block wants cleaning every three to four months. Bay-side homes take less salt but more spray from the water.
- Rentals and empty houses.A lot of Ocean City homes are rentals or second homes. Glass between bookings, or before the season, is one of the cheapest ways to make a listing photograph better. We work around keys and lockboxes.

How often should Ocean City windows be cleaned?
Every three to four months on or near the beach block. Further inland on the island, twice a year with a pre-season clean is usually enough.
Do I need to be there?
No. Most of the shore homes we do are empty when we do them. Tell us how to get through the gate and whether an outside tap is on, and we’ll send photos when we finish.
Can you clean between rental turnovers?
Yes. Give us the changeover day and access details and we’ll work around it, including before the first booking of the season.
What if the water is off for the winter?
Tell us when you book. If the house is winterised we’ll work out access to a tap or bring water.
Can you get salt etching out?
Sometimes. Fresh deposits come off completely. Deposits that have sat for years bond into the glass and may need restoration. We look before we promise.
